In everyday life, many people have a relatively superficial understanding of first aid. Many believe it's a specialized area for medical professionals, but in reality, anyone can be a life-saving hero. A recent incident at Yongning Square vividly illustrates this point: a man collapsed from cardiac arrest. Fortunately, a passing off-duty police officer and two nurses quickly provided assistance and successfully revived him, demonstrating the golden rule of first aid at its best.
This incident reminds us that in the face of emergencies, whether we can take timely action often depends on our first aid knowledge and skills. Therefore, first aid training becomes very important.

Importance of First Aid Training
As a first aid instructor, I deeply understand the critical importance of this type of training. The Conde S. Januario Hospital has been promoting first aid training for its staff for many years, and even plans to expand this to include more professionals. This effort aims to build a ready-to-respond first aid team. Statistics show that those who learn CPR have a 30% to 50% higher success rate in first aid.
First aid training includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control techniques, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). These skills can save lives in emergencies and give everyone the opportunity to be a protector of others.
The necessity of community first aid education
In addition to professional training in medical institutions, community-based first aid education is equally crucial. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and hemostasis techniques should be basic skills for everyone. In critical moments, possessing these skills can change a person's fate and increase their survival rate.
Laws in many regions also support "good-hearted rescuers," protecting the rights of rescuers and reducing their legal liability, which encourages more people to bravely lend a hand. For example, according to a survey conducted by the First Aid Law, 76% of rescuers felt more confident under legal protection.
Revelation from the rescue incident
This incident was not only a successful rescue, but also a wake-up call for public awareness of first aid. Learning proper first aid techniques not only saves lives in critical moments but also strengthens our sense of social responsibility. Research shows that people with first aid skills react 40% faster in emergencies, on average.
How to learn first aid
The most direct way to learn first aid is to attend a first aid training course offered by a professional medical institution or community center. These courses are usually taught by certified first aid instructors and cover basic first aid knowledge and skills to improve our response capabilities.
In addition to face-to-face training, many online platforms also offer first aid courses, allowing learners to flexibly arrange their learning schedules. These courses typically include video tutorials, simulation exercises, and exams to help learners firmly grasp first aid skills.
Summary
It is our shared responsibility to ensure that everyone has first aid knowledge. We hope that everyone will take first aid skills seriously, actively participate in training, and become a guardian of their own and others' lives. So, do you know whether the people around you have sufficient first aid knowledge? Are you willing to learn how to learn first aid together? 😊
In this rapidly changing society, possessing first aid skills not only enhances personal capabilities but also helps save lives in critical moments. Let us work together to become guardians of life!
